Large Individual Grade II listed dwelling

The basis of our works package on this project comprised of the following;

• Polished lime floor screeds, this includes the buffing and sealing of the surface to create marble effect flooring
• Installation of sawn oak timbers lathes to all walls & ceilings
• Installation of 3 coat lime plaster, incorporating the use of horse hair in the backing coats. Hand crafted angles throughout
• Producing ‘Tadelact’ finishes to the wet areas. This is a polished finish created using Marseille soaps and the like
• Sand & cement render and screed to the large new swimming pool
• Installation of breather membranes and insulations where required

For us, this was a great opportunity to be involved in such a large scale refurbishment of a Grade II listed building. The finishes required are extremely bespoke and can only be installed by trained installers of the Arte Constructo product range. This dwelling has been owned by Radio DJ Chris Evans, Ron Dennis of Mclaren F1 and TV presenter Anthea Turner, hence why this dwelling carries a quite prestigious name tag. The works were carried on behalf of an extremely valuable client to us, Cardy Construction. The work that goes into a project such as this requires trust, confidence and faith in each other’s abilities. Our contract value stands at £400,000.00 to date, but is ever rising as we complete further works to numerous outbuildings, both of old & new construction. From the outset this project was always going to be a challenge due to the involvement of the work, but also due to the timescales to get the new owner into this amazing property. Hepburn’s management team invested time, alongside the main contractor, to put together a detailed construction phase plan, accompanied by short term programmes to ensure key dates were met. After a lot of hard work by our highly skilled installers and dedicated on site supervisor, the end objective and expectations were met, and if anything exceeded. Most importantly to date we have an extremely happy client and a great working relationship with our friends at Cardy Construction.
